New England Investment & Retirement Group, Inc. would like to announce its availability as a local drop-off point for donations to The Greyson Project. The firm will accept Christmas decoration care packages on behalf of the charity from now through December 21st, 2018.
Established in 2015, The Greyson Project (www.thegreysonproject.org) is tasked with the mission of delivering gift bags of hospital approved Christmas decorations to children undergoing treatment. The intent is to help young patients and their families feel just a little more at home during the hospitalization, bringing love and joy and happiness when such support is amply needed.
The Greyson Project is inspired by a family’s deep love for their son Greyson, who was hospitalized during the holiday season in 2010. During his stay, a Christmas care package from loved ones beautifully decorated both his hospital room and the hearts of those who experienced holiday joy there. After saying goodbye to Greyson, his family established this charitable group as a tribute to him, with the purpose and goal of extending his legacy of brightening hearts. Since founding The Greyson Project, the team has partnered with children’s hospitals across the country to kindle Christmas cheer in the lives of many.
Katie Frechette, a Client Service Representative at NEIRG, is the local point person and organizer for the charity in the region north of Boston. She is a seasoned professional of the financial services industry, with extensive experience bringing care and follow-up to the requests of clients and the company’s investment team. The Greyson Project is near and dear to her heart as Katie is friends with the family and watched the organization develop and grow.
After the establishment of the memorial charity and its initial spread, Katie recognized an opportunity to serve a worthy cause. “As soon as I started working in the Boston area, I knew that I had to reach out…I knew that I’d be able to help,” said Katie during an interview. The holidays have been a special time for her and her family since she was a little girl. “I think that it’s important to support a cause like this, as it gives hope to children and families that are spending the holidays in the hospital.”
When Katie brought the initiative to the attention of the NEIRG team, company leadership was happy to extend support to the effort. “This holiday season, we have decided to support the Greyson Project because we believe in their message and their motivation for spreading holiday cheer to children and families spending the holidays in the hospital,” said Brian Pirri, CFP®, Partner and Principal at NEIRG. “We believe that bringing just a little light into their lives through something as simple as Christmas decorations could lead them toward the meaningful hope that sustains us all.”
How Can You Help?
Could you support The Greyson Project in brightening the lives of families in need? Our current goal is to collect 70 bags of decorations in donation to children and families at Boston area hospitals such as Shriners, UMass Memorial and Mass General.
