Team Spotlight | Q&A with Tamie Maffeo
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes?
A: “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” — George Bernard Shaw
To me, life is about creating you, the you that you want to be from the ground up. Create the life you want; create the things you want to have in your life; the people you want to spend your life with.
Q: What is your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
A: I love hiking in the warm weather and skiing in the cold.
Q: What is your favorite form of exercise?
A: I recently joined a gym that has heated workout sessions. The room is heated to 100 degrees, and it is the most intense form of exercise I have ever tried. We do an hour of resistance combined with cardio. As crazy as it sounds, I love it!
Q: What is your favorite season?
A: Fall. I love the crisp air and beautiful colors. Another bonus of living in New England — it goes hand in hand with my love of hiking as it is much more enjoyable in the cooler weather.
Q: If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
A: Aristotle. About 2,300 years ago, he founded the ideas on what it takes to flourish. It is important that we become responsible for our own character. And he promoted that thought by showing that we must “do good” as opposed to just “be good.” He stressed how important it is to improve our physical body, our emotional state, our ability to live with others and to have peace of mind. If we focus on these things, we work toward building ourselves up. We will also build up those around us and have a good life.
Q: If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
A: Jim Rohn. He was an amazing motivational speaker who came from humble beginnings and has helped hundreds of thousands of people transform their lives. He has shown that life success is not a reflection of the things we own, but instead how we use them and the opportunities that come our way.
One of his famous quotes is, “Don’t wish it was easier; wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge; wish for more wisdom.”
Q: What is the most played song on your playlist?
A: Imagine Dragons – “Believer.”
